Use a Contract. Every client. Every time.

We're on a mission to share how and why using a contract is better than doing business with a handshake. We've created a tool that makes writing a contract simple as pie, and we're spreading the word to freelancers across America!

Words of wisdom

Here are our favorite tips when negotiating your contract:

  • Know your bottom line. What do you absolutely need, what are you flexible on, and are there various outcomes you could be happy with?
  • Research the company and ask questions about the project so you understand what their needs and parameters are.
  • Don't be intimidated by bigger or older businesses - be polite, remain firm and focused, and remember that you're not obligated to accept their terms.
  • Be aware of emotions and be a good listener so you both have a chance to clearly and calmly articulate your interests in a friendly manner.
  • Make sure everything gets written down. If you negotiate the terms of your contract, be sure the changes make it to the final written agreement!
