Benefits Affiliates Program
As a Benefits Affiliate of Freelancers Union, you have the opportunity to offer access to affordable, comprehensive benefits and services to your membership base.
Advantages of the Benefits Affiliates program:
- A comprehensive benefits program.
You can offer your members access to group-rate health, life, and disability insurance, as well as financial and other services. - Waived application fee.
The insurance application fee will be waived for your members. - Partnership with an advocacy leader.
Freelancers Union represents the needs and concerns of independent workers - the nation's fastest-growing workforce - to policy makers. - Free promotion of your organization and events.
Your organization will appear on our Affiliates web page. We'll also promote your events to our members, when appropriate, in our monthly e-newsletter.
To participate, membership organizations, associations, guilds, nonprofit groups, and unions should meet the following qualifications:
- Be affiliated with one of our eligible industries: Arts, Design, & Entertainment; Domestic Child Caregiver; Financial Services; Media & Advertising; Nonprofit; Skilled Computer User; Technology; Traditional or Alternative Health Care Provider. Your organization should not be seeking this partnership solely for the purpose of marketing to our members.
- Maintain on your website accurate and updated information describing Freelancers Union benefits (including a link to www.freelancersunion.org/insurance/index.html), and in other materials if applicable. All such information should be approved by Freelancers Union.
- Distribute information about our advocacy campaigns to your members (we’ll send requests no more than three times per year). Typically, this will involve sharing information with your members regarding opportunities to participate in surveys and events.
- Your members are not automatically eligible to purchase Freelancers Union’s group health insurance plans. They are subject to our standard eligibility rules and procedures. Information about available plans and the eligibility process is available online at www.freelancersunion.org/insurance/index.html.

- If your organization is interested in becoming a Benefits Affiliate, contact affiliates@freelancersunion.org. In your inquiry, please include your organization’s name, which of our eligible industries with which it’s affiliated, number of members, etc.
- If your organization meets our Affiliate requirements, we will send you a brief survey and contract to complete.
- Upon execution of the agreement, Freelancers Union provides you with text to post on your website, including a link to freelancersunion.org.
- Your members join Freelancers Union and complete our insurance eligibility application. In the application, they select your organization’s name from a list of referral sources, which results in a waiver of their application fees.
- Members receive email notification of their insurance eligibility, and are prompted to enroll in their choice of insurance plans on our website.
- Throughout the year, Freelancers Union notifies you of up to three advocacy initiatives, such as surveys and events, to share with your members.
- If any of your organization’s contact information changes, you inform Freelancers Union.
