What is accident insurance?

Accident insurance plans can pay you directly when you are injured in a covered accident. Your payouts are triggered by the injury you experience and the medical care you receive but can be used to pay for anything, such as groceries, cab fare, or rent.

What is specified disease insurance?

Critical illness insurance — called Specified Disease Insurance in New York — is an insurance plan that can pay you a lump sum when you are diagnosed with a serious covered illness. It is designed to complement your existing health insurance, and you can use the money to pay for anything you’d like, from rent or your health insurance deductible, to keeping your business afloat while you recuperate.
