Windows 10 Review: a Throwback With Upgrades in Software and Security

  • Okay, for the most part, the NY Times has a fairly accurate review of Microsoft's new OS. As I have recently upgraded one of my machines, which to be honest, is a standard laptop, about 3 years old, without an web cam or microphone. The updates that Microsoft have done to the OS, at least visually, are exactly what they needed to do. I have severely missed my Start button, as have most of us, and the ease of having programs tagged without having to use up valuable taskbar space. I have not used Cortana, but have it on my Lumia 635, which I use a lot, and it updates to my Laptop with ease. The Security does seem to be a little more integrated, even with the new Edge Web browser, but I would still recommend that a 3rd party solution be used to cover any missed vulnerabilities. Over all, I would recommend updating if you have multiple systems, cause hey, don't we all, but not use your main until at least a few bug patches get processed, if not Service Pack 1, cause it is Microsoft.
