Introductions

This is a place where Hive members can introduce themselves. As the founder of this Hive I'll get the conversation rolling.

I built my first website at the tender age of 16, so I've been building and designing websites for almost half of my life. I've come to work with WordPress because it's such a versatile and easy-to-use platform that has an active community.

Aside from WordPress I'm also experienced in UX, responsive web design, and web design and development in general.

That said, I'd love to share my expertise with those of you who might have questions, problems, or concerns related to your WordPress websites or web design and development in general. Please don't hesitate to start new conversations (let's keep things organized) and contribute to existing conversations!

  • Hello Sasha,
I wish this hive was more active! But that's my bias. I'm launching a freelance WordPress business this year. I am offering small businesses managed hosting. I'm trying to get more of them onto a VPS in the cloud like Digital Ocean. Just for security purposes!

Thanks for starting this group. I'll see if I can sign up a few of my friends in the WordPress community to join us.

  • Hi Susan,

Thanks for joining and for your comment. To be honest, my focus was elsewhere over the last few months. But your comment is encouraging me to spice things up a bit. I'll start by sharing WordPress related news and we'll see where things go from there.

    Cheers,

    Sasha

  • Hello Sasha, nice to meet you. I am actually working on the idea of transitioning my blog from the Blogger platform to Wordpress. I am totally new to Wordpress so I am interested in learning as much as I can before I make the transition. I am excited by what Wordpress has to offer. I am not super knowledgeable about web design so I am learning as I go. I look forward to learning more about how I can use Wordpress to build my blog and business.

  • Hello Sasha! I started working on web design at sixteen as well! I'm not a super guru at it, but its a great skill to know. And I've been using Wordpress for a few years now and am hoping to transition my portfolio to a Wordpress platform in the near future. I look forward to reading more in this hive!

  • Hey there,
I'm Alex, I lots of stuff with WordPress. Let's talk some time. =)

  • Hi, I'm not sure if this is the right place for introductions. My name is David Somerfleck. I'm a very experienced WordPress web developer with a background in SEO, eCommerce, copywriting/editing, and training. I also organize the WordPress meetup group in Aurora Colorado sponsored by the WordPress Foundation. My main business site is www.SuddenImpactWebDesign.com.

  • Hi all! Huge WordPress fan here. My name is CT & I have been working at a full-service ad agency since 2012. When I started, we managed 5 websites. We now manage 85 responsive, WP-based sites on a monthly basis.

I recently started freelancing on UpWork on nights/weekends & it quickly struck a cord with me. I'm now in the process of laying out a plan to freelance full-time.

You can check out my personal/portfolio site here (ctkaupp.com). I'm always up for talking anything web-related, especially WP, so feel free to reply here, email me (chris@ctkaupp.com) or catch me on Twitter (@ct_ballhawk).

I will bookmark this hive & check back for more posts :)

Hope to talk to you all soon!

  • Hi Sasha,

I'm Chris and I'm very new to the freelancing world. I'm in semi-retirement after 14 years teaching high school English. Earlier this year I kind of stumbled into a freelancing gig through a personal networking channel--and it really set the hook in me. The work played to many of my strengths and getting paid directly for my original work was one of the more satisfying moments of my professional life.

So--now I am in the situation of knowing what I want to do, but having now idea how to find clients in my niche. I'm definitely looking forward to connecting with other freelancers and learning more about the business!
